I am often asked by clients if they should purchase trip insurance
and now more than ever my response is overwhelmingly "YES!" In this day of increasing airline delays and cancellations,
irregular weather patterns, and stricter cancellation policies, it is more important than ever to protect your investment. In
most cases, it only costs a few dollars over your trip cost to give you peace of mind, and some companies even offer
"cancel for ANY reason" insurance. When I am asked "why trip insurance?" I usually cite real
client incidents from my years in the business:  Child breaks leg in spring soccer - ski trip is cancelled and family loses $4200! (insurance would have only
been $200) Train derails forcing clients to buy expensive last-minute plane tickets in Europe - reimbursed by insurance company- Client dies of heart attack on a cruise - family reimbursed for repatriation of remains from Canada to home in US
- Client twists ankle while hiking in Alps - results in $1700 hospital bill (insurance would have only been $84)
- Airline loses client's luggage for days - has to buy ski clothes on trip (reimbursed by insurance company)
- Client is attacked by wild cougar while teeing off in AZ - medical bills could have been dramatically reduced with
insurance
- Airline cancels flight but offers no hotel voucher - client pays for hotel but is reimbursed by insurance company
- Client discovers at last minute passport is expired and has to cancel trip - loses $5000 (insurance would have been
$99 pp)
